Hackney, December 2021
A short observational documentary, observing the mundane reality of
working in a pub during the corona-virus pandemic.
During “lock-down” in London, all hospitality services were asked to shut their doors to the public, with some establishments being allowed to run as a take-away service over the Christmas period.
On an average weekend before the pandemic, The Plough would have been a vibrant and busy venue, often hosting events in the basement, such as burlesque performances and wedding receptions. This footage shows the eerily quiet pub as it
struggles to make ends meet during this bizarre time period.
At this point I had been working in this pub for about three years, I
decided to shoot this footage for archive purposes. As of 2025, the building opposite no longer exists and the pub is under different ownership with a new name.
